Daniel Komen: World Record Holder Arraigned in Court

The 3,000m and 2 Mile World Record holder and aspiring Member of County Assembly for Racecourse Ward, Uasin Gishu County, Daniel Kipngetich Komen has been arraigned in court and charged with obtaining goods under false pretense. It is alleged that in mid 2013 at Nakumatt Junction along Ngong Road, the accused, with intent to defraud, obtained a car valued at KES 1.7m falsely pretending that he was in a position to pay, a fact he knew to be false. Wario Disbands Olympic Committee

Hassan Wario, the Cabinet Secretary for Sport, has officially disbanded the National Olympic Committee of Kenya. This comes after the NOC was accussed of grossly mismanaging the team that competed at the just-concluded 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Furthermore, the Cabinet Secretary has called for an investigation into the matter, and transferred the duties of the Committee temporarily to the Sports Kenya Management Board. Isaiah Kiplagat Passes Away

Suspended head of Athletics Kenya, Isaiah Kiplagat, has passed away aged 72. He passed away this morning after losing his battle with cancer. Isaiah Kiplagat died in his Nairobi home this morning at about 10:30am. He has been battling cancer for a while now, but over the last four months his condition had deteriorated significantly. Acting head of Athletics Kenya, Susan Kamau, confirmed the passing of Kiplagat, and told Capital Sport that they were waiting for more information from the family. Kiplagat was Kenya’s longest serving AK chief, and was involved with the body for over 40 years. He was responsible for a lot of the success that Kenya has enjoyed both locally and internationally, and was among the pioneers of the development of Athletics in Kenya on the international scene. The embattled CEO was suspended in November last year, along with AK officials David Okeyo and Joseph Kinyua, while investigations were carried out on various doping and bribery allegations. Ezekiel Kemboi won’t retire 

Following the controversial decision to strip Ezekiel Kemboi of his Olympic bronze medal, he has announced that he will not retire from athletics just yet. Kemboi was disqualified from the race and subsequently lost his medal to French runner Mahiedine Mekhisi-Benabbad after the Frenchman officially complained that Kemboi stepped off the track in the fourth lap of his race. On his official Facebook page, Kemboi posted, I had opted to retire right after the Olympics only if i had come home with this medal….now i feel that i have to bring back this medal not by protesting again but right on track.
