The 3,000m and 2 Mile World Record holder and aspiring Member of County Assembly for Racecourse Ward, Uasin Gishu County, Daniel Kipngetich Komen has been arraigned in court and charged with obtaining goods under false pretense.

It is alleged that in mid 2013 at Nakumatt Junction along Ngong Road, the accused, with intent to defraud, obtained a car valued at KES 1.7m falsely pretending that he was in a position to pay, a fact he knew to be false.

Komen has also been charged with other various counts of forgery, uttering a false document and issuing a bad cheque.

He has denied all the charges before resident magistrate Christine Njagi and was released on a cashbail of sh300,000.

The case will be heard on 19th May.

Daniel Komen has been embroiled in another controversy for a few years now. He accuses current Uasin Gishu County Speaker, Isaac Terer, of conning him over KES 12 million. The case is still in court.
