Isaiah Kiplagat died in his Nairobi home this morning at about 10:30am. He has been battling cancer for a while now, but over the last four months his condition had deteriorated significantly.

Acting head of Athletics Kenya, Susan Kamau, confirmed the passing of Kiplagat, and told Capital Sport that they were waiting for more information from the family.

Kiplagat was Kenya’s longest serving AK chief, and was involved with the body for over 40 years. He was responsible for a lot of the success that Kenya has enjoyed both locally and internationally, and was among the pioneers of the development of Athletics in Kenya on the international scene.

The embattled CEO was suspended in November last year, along with AK officials David Okeyo and Joseph Kinyua, while investigations were carried out on various doping and bribery allegations.

May his soul rest in peace. Our prayers go out to him and his family.
