KEN 10 – 19 SPA
TRIES: Nziwa D; Okelo J. (KEN ) | Pla, B.; Bravo, M. (2); (SPA)
CONV: Garcia, P (2)

The Kenyan Women’s Rugby team continued with their rocky start to the Rio 2016 Olympics when they lost 19-10 to Spain in their third Group B match. Tries by Doreen Nziwa and Janet Okelo in either half were not enough to stop a determined Spanish side.

The Spanish side exploded into action with a first minute try through Barbara Pla, bringing back memories of yesterday’s matches where Kenya lost heavily to New Zealand and France. However, the Lionesses roared back with a try from Nziwa, but missed conversions from either side meant the teams were locked at 5-5 by half time

Spain added a second try right after kickoff, Bravo Marina crossing the line in the first minute of the half, with Patricia Garcia converting. Marina and Garcia struck again in the fourth minute of the second half, condemning the Kenyans to a third straight defeat. Janet Okelo scored a consolation try in the second half, but it was too little too late for the Kenyans.
